The results are in and we have our shortlist! You have until the 31st of October to vote for the first ever NZ River of the year. The winner will be announced at the NZHS / Rivers Group joint conference dinner on November the 19th 2026 in Nelson.

The three finalists are:

1. Waikirikiri / Selwyn River, Canterbury 

2. Raparapaririki River, Waiapu catchment, Tairāwhiti Gisborne, East Coast

3. Ashley River / Rakahuri River, Canterbury
